Why Study Law?
ABSTRACT
In the present era, there are many career options for students or graduates, like law, engineering, doctor, entrepreneur and much more. But law or legal studies consists of almost every area of human life, touching upon issues related to business, economics, politics, the environment, human rights, international relations and trade. So, a law degree combines with many other qualifications, thus, a person can work in any field like academics, business, commercial, industrial, politics, social service and many more. As there are two courses of law, the first is a three-year degree i.e., LLB (Bachelor of Legislative Law or Legum Baccalaureus), and the second is a five-year degree i.e., BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, BSc LLB, BSW LLB, BLS LLB.

Many of the students hold the misconception that studying law is synonymous with cramming statutes and penals and offers little interest for people who do not want to make their careers as lawyers. Studying law for social purposes: It will be easy to relate the legal theory to the world outside. The books knowledge is supplemented with training the students for practical applications through moot court competitions, management of pro bono societies. It will give you a real feel of the profession.
Study law for self-employment: Unlike other professions, law gives you the freedom to be self-employed. A law school pass out is required to clear the bar exam which is conducted by the Bar Council of India. After qualifying this exam, the lawyer is given a bar license which makes him eligible to practice in a court of law independently.
Study law to teach law: After completing LLB course, you can specialize by opting for the post-graduation course in law i.e. LL.M followed by Ph.D, and after this you can opt for teaching law at several private and government educational institutions.
